Linen Stitch Longies Recipe

I recently took part in a kit swap of sorts, where the swappers each received a list of their assigned giftee’s knitting kit requests. The person I was assigned was a challenge in that her colors are not really my colors, and her pattern desires were not all that similar to my pattern desires. The [...]

A cowl swap – a cowl swap? Oh no, I’ve signed up for a cowl swap, and we’re moving! Where is my yarn – what did I write on it again, so that hubby wouldn’t realize that all those boxes were yarn? Oh wait, the luxe yarn I have is all in colors my person [...]

Queen Moebia

Not everyone is a handknit-wearing kind of person. And unfortunately people like me often want to knit projects that we think would be perfect for so-and-so, but knowing they’re not a handknit-wearing kind of person stops us. One day last year, my aunt remarked on a cowl I was knitting, and said something along the lines [...]

Call of the…Socks?

You know how it is when you really, really, really are opposed to doing something, yet you are compelled to do it anyhow? That’s me. With socks.
If you’re at all aware of where I work, you’ll know we had sock yarn available at a sweet, sweet price. I, however, am not interested in knitting socks. [...]

Mannelijke

A few short days before Christmas, and I had yet to CO anything for the men on my side of the family. Since they all live about 3000 miles from me, I also had no live bodies to actually measure.
I polled the men on my husband’s side of the family, and learned several things. First, [...]

Santa Blanka

I am considering making a blanket, or lots of blankets, for Christmas gifts this year. In garter stitch. I know, you’re thinking “boring as all get-out.” But it’s on the diagonal, so once you start decreasing, it will feel like it’s going faster!
My inspiration? Santa Ana, a bulky weight, quality fun fur/eyelash type yarn, available [...]

Happy Birthday to Me!

Not only am I completely thrilled that there is going to be class taught on my Zinnia Dahlia, at Ancient Pathways just a few days before my birthday, I also just bought a birthday present for myself.
Initially, I was going to splurge on some of the fantastic deals that can be had during Malabrigo March (if you [...]

Blink and you’ll miss it.

Every once in a while I get a series of days during which it feels like I’ve gotten a ton of stuff done, but there’s not much evidence. This is sort of how things have gone since the New Year.
I am patiently waiting for my family to get together and open their Christmas gifts (I [...]

Holiday Knitting, 2008

I’m embarassed to admit, but must, that I’m not quite done my holiday knitting. Shame.
I am, however, almost done. And I will be done by the time I have to find my way in to work again (I hope). So with some luck, I can get the darn things shipped this coming Monday (yay!). There [...]

Upside down, boy you turn me…

I’m attempting to knit hats for men. For instance, my husband, Dad, brother, and brothers-in-law. My father-in-law would be on that list if he wore hats, which he does not.
I thought of a simple enough ribbed stitch pattern that I think is manly-ish, and I’m knitting it up. Hubby Dearest likes the outside. I prefer the inside. [...]
